2008

Wayne worked in Singapore until May, 2008 and then returned to Kemah for a month. His lovely daughter, Beth, graduated from Sam Houston State University with her Education Degree.  What a blessing to be able to attend her graduation ceremony!

During that time, Nancy became a grandmother to a beautiful granddaughter, Hailey and began taking care of her when Kristin returned to work.  What an honor to be helping Dan and Kristin out.  I  also became an ASA instructor and started teaching Basic Keelboat on the weekends in Kemah with South Coast Sailing Adventures and Lakeside Sailing School.  I also substituted in the Clear Creek ISD schools.

At the end of June, Wayne took a "3-week" job that turned into a 7-month job.  Before he left for Dalian, China, he moved the boat to Harborwalk Marina in Galveston.

In August, Wayne was blessed with the birth of his 6th grandchild, Charlsie.  She is a beautiful, happy, smiling baby.  Congratulations Jeremy and Rachel!

September 5, Nancy left to sail for 3 weeks in Greece with 41 other TASS friends.  We sailed the Cyclades Islands from Athens to Kos in the Aegean Sea.  Wow, is Greece a wonderful place to sail and visit.  But, during that time, a massive storm called Hurricane Ike decided to make landfall in Galveston and roar on up through Galveston Bay and Kemah.  The destruction was indescrible and so sad.  So many lost so much.  Dances With Dragons took quite a pounding and survived!  (But not totally unscathed!)

Wayne returned in October and moved her to Rockport, Texas where repairs could be completed.  The steering vane was almost totally destroyed, a solar panel destroyed, the rub rails had to be replaced and she needed a new paint job.  All the work is completed and is she ever beautiful!

She is back in the water and now residing in Port Aransas at Island Mooring Marina.  We have decided to try our hand at sailboat charters until we are ready to head out again.
